The success of Reform is no surprise to me as they appeal to people for different reasons.
I am a Remainer and not that bothered about immigration either (provided they work and integrate) yet I voted Reform.
Why ?
Because I am sick to death of "progressive authoritarian" governments (Labour most obviously but also the Tories from Cameron onwards) imposing on us stuff we don't want, from default 20mph speed limits in built up areas to fines for parents taking their kids on holiday for a week in term time, to banning petrol cars to, most obviously, being told to stay at home for a virus which was not indiscriminate and over 99% were surviving. Now they're even trying to ban fags (and I don't smoke) and reduce the drink drive limit when there is no evidence it made any difference to accident rates in Scotland.
All these progressives who support these policies should take ownership for Reform's success.
Leave us alone to live our lives as we want.
