Submission statement: Cloudflare announced layoffs affecting 20% of its workforce despite beating earnings expectations. Cloudflare is one of the largest IT security companies in the world offering reverse-proxy, CDN and anti-DDoS solutions. The news is relevant to predictions of the economic effects of wide-scale adoption of LLMs agents to perform intellectual, white-collar tasks.

  2. I don’t know if [this is particularly accurate](https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/NET/cloudflare/number-of-employees), but with this cut they will still have more employees than they did in 2023. *Maybe* more than 2024, it’ll be close, since the article states they currently have 5,483 employees. There weren’t any news articles when Cloudflare hired 900 employees through the duration of 2025. Don’t take this as a given that this is a “trend” in the broader economy or even tech.

Idk, seems like the “utmost” wouldn’t involve laying them off.
