A sign that willingness to pay a premium for green products is not just a western concept, the Tianjin Meat Industry Association, responsible for 40% of China’s beef import from Brazil, is willing to pay a premium for deforestation-free beef, a sign that consumer preferences are shifting to desire more eco-conscious products instead of solely responding to prices.

This is imo a natural result of Chinese people getting wealthier. People around the world place value on our natural world and do not wish to contribute excessively to its destruction and when they have the money their spending reflects that. There is a desire for green products and a willingness to pay the premium needed for them. Hopefully this trend continues in China and worldwide.
