Evo Morales, former President of Bolivia from 2006-2019, is being held in contempt of court after missing a court session for the case of trafficking and impregnating a teenager. The former President, who is currently in hiding within rural Chapare alongside a band of militant loyalists, has decried the court case as a witch hunt. To see a former President, especially one as formerly influential as Morales, be put under such duress and reduced in influence so much is significant, and is a sign of just how far Bolivia has moved since then. I don’t really know what unique insight I’m meant to present as my opinion, tbh. If Morales is guilty, then he should be in prison for a crime as awful as this.
