Why it’s related to this sub?
With the increasing housing shortage of Australia, LNP leader Angus has proposed a new plan of cutting immigration down to the rate that only one new house built, can a new immigrant be granted with permanent residency. Though LNP is increasingly unpopular in Australia, but this kind of policy reflects the further right turn of LNP, and the more antagonizing attitude towards immigrants, that mostly sprouts from the housing crisis, which is very related to neoliberalism.
My personal opinion on this:
Australia, and many Western countries, somehow collectively forgot about how to stack a house above another one, and found that the best way to deal with a shoe to tight is to cut your toes off, or maybe also cut the heel off too.

Can we just get some immigrants who are construction workers please and thank you, its so frustrating that the people we need most are largely blocked from coming here.
