Even in Orwell’s 1984 he conceded that while there were cameras in all the televisions, a person would have to actually be watching. This would mean you probably weren’t being monitored at any given time, unless you were already on the State’s list.
With AI that’s no longer the case. We each have cameras and microphones in our pockets we cannot turn off (there’s a reason you can’t remove the battery on your smartphone anymore). With AI everyone can be monitored with any activity the State deems harmful being flagged for further review.
(and that’s not even getting into the nonsense of people thinking that AI is actually sentient…)
