I went to one of the Brooklyn manholes linked to the recent “Mole People” videos, and honestly, the whole thing feels stranger in person.

This was not some hidden alley or abandoned industrial zone. It was a normal city street. Cars passing. Businesses open. People walking around. And yet, according to witnesses and videos, groups of people allegedly went down into the sewer system in the middle of the night and later came back up blocks away.

The official explanation seems to be that they may be scavengers looking for jewelry, weapons or valuables. Maybe. But why would multiple groups be doing this in different parts of NYC? Why the lights, tools, waders and apparent organization? And why are some reportedly changing clothes after coming out?

I am not saying this proves anything bigger. But with the World Cup coming, huge crowds expected, and NYC’s underground infrastructure basically being a city under the city, I think people are right to ask harder questions.

Is this really just treasure hunting — or did the public accidentally catch a glimpse of something else happening below New York?

Theres urban explorers, graffiti artists…even i was ablut to start looking for secret tunnel entrances in manhattan once when i was high af…slso that area is right where they found tunnels a couple yeers ago isnt it? I know it was BK but im not sure if it was gravesend…what street crossing did you find it? Im going to go there as well

  2. Only thing I can think of that could logically explain this is that they are sending DPW workers down there to unclog any buildups so that when a humongous crowd comes to town there won’t be any sewage / water buildup that would cause a biohazard throughout the city. Maybe?

ETA: Guys, I’m in this community for a reason – I was simply offering a different perspective. No need for all the downvotes. I literally have no idea what’s going on with this situation and I just heard about it.

  3. You ask why they would change their clothes after coming out of the sewer, as if that’s suspicious? LMFAO. It’s a fucking sewer, their clothes are probably nasty asf…

  4. Lots to explore down there. Just wish we could see some footage underground!

  5. There’s a whole city of homeless living under NYC, in abandoned subway tunnels and sewer lines. They’ve been down there for decades. See the 90’s documentary Dark Days.

Not saying that’s necessarily what this is, but people going underground in NYC is not new behavior. I lived there in the 2000’s and saw a few people emerge from or disappear into the subway tunnels.

First. The “mole people” are a subsect of the homeless population. A known thing, for me, since the 90s but is almost definitely older than that. They live down there and, apparently, don’t come up much, but I wonder about the veracity of that.

Second. Nothing you said sounds like the Jewish people who go down there. They are almost always in their suits with no gear to speak of. I only bring this up because New York Jewish tunnel people are on people’s minds recently.

Third. This sounds like a friend group, trapped on one of the most expensive islands on Earth, looking for something free to do. Changing clothes to get on the train after you’ve been in a sewer is just polite.

Fourth. I hope it’s like Midnight Meat Train. Monsters are cool. They look like monsters. What you’re getting is on the tin. The ones that look like people are scary.

I mean I assumed they did a heist or a kidnapping or something and that’s why this all happened.

Worse assumptions … Yeah there could be some even scarier alternatives than that.

When I was a kid I was constantly breaking into military bunkers , crawling around in the sewers, climbing trees, breaking into abandoned buildings , etc etc.. yeah I did it in secret too

  9. Dig into the “targeted individual” phenomenon. There’s something destroying this country from the inside out – and it’s very real!

It screams next 9/11 if nobody else has the balls to say it, this seems like a dry run.

  11. Probably just some photographers interested in civil engineering. I’ve been seeing this for years in Toronto/Hamilton as well.. it’s an international trend, nothing sinister about it just exploring and cataloging by photos.

I wonder how close these manholes are to the infamous tunnels that were discovered earlier this year. You know the ones with the bloody mattress and high chairs.

Yeah man, why would someone change clothes after coming out of the sewer system?
