Intentionally encouraging civil wars

I am from South Africa and if you were not aware, we have been having horrible incidents of Xenophobia against Nigerians. Last week I came to work and my black coworker came to in righteous anger, explaining that a foreigner cast a spell on a woman after having sex with her to make her age overnight. He claimed that the 31 year old woman hooked up with a Nigerian and BOOM she transformed into a granny. (giving me Howls Moving Castle vibes)

My first thought was " they are totally spreading this narrative to foster hate amongst the community"

I am however not blind to the fact that magic exists and this country has a very big Muti problem (witch doctors make spells for you called Muti to help with issues in your life. Sometimes they require normal everyday items. Depending on how big the spell is. If it's a strong spell then you need to bring them a person to kill and torture to conjure stronger magic.)

So I told my coworker that if it is real, the whole world will pick it up. That we mustn't just believe everything we read.

A week later I did some research and found that when this 31 year old woman was 27 years old, she was diagnosed with a disease that makes you rapidly age.

But guess what? The damage is done. The black people in the townships don't need much of a reason to hate the foreigners(granted, many of the biggest drug dealer rings in our country are controlled by foreigners) and so they don't believe the info coming out about her disease.

The powers that be are 100% trying to start civil wars all over the world. People are being killed for being suspected as a foreigner here. A student was dragged out of his bed in the morning and stabbed to death because people suspected him of being Nigerian.

It's so very sad and scary.
