For those not in the know…
FISA is the “Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act”.
Passed decades ago, and it has been amended several times (ie. Patriot Act). Many of the provisions in the law require it to be re-authorized by congress every so often. Often when they re-authorize they tweak it a bit here and there.
The latest authorization just expired a week ago or so.
