  1. While Burnham’s win in Makerfield against Reform is naturally getting the most attention, the Conservatives have also won their first by-election in Scotland since 1973, and it’s their first gain since 1967

The Conservatives won very convincingly in the end (49.5% Con vs 28.6% SNP)

This result and Reform’s disappointing result in Makerfield, where they lost by about 20%, suggests the Tories are in a better position than previously thought, and puts the mainstream right in a stronger position to try and hold off Farage’s populist right party

  2. Haven’t read the article but this is NOT what I expected from Makerfield, Burnham in absolute shambles.

  3. No-Kiwi-1868 on

As much as the Tories can fornicate on a cactus for essential busting our nation for over a decade, at least they’re the lesser evil (by a thin margin) compared to Deform and Restore
