Eh, I’m not one to have ever expected unconditional surrender to have ever been an option, given the constraints we were stuck by, not even when this first kicked off.
That said…
This is not an unconditional surrender. This was a negotiated surrender.
An unconditional surrender is when you set the terms and the other guy doesn’t get a vote.
That’s not what happened here.
This may have been the best deal we could get to end the conflict without committing the personnel and materiel necessary to achieve an unconditional surrender… But it most certainly was not an unconditional surrender.
That all said… I’m not gonna withdraw any support the president has from me because he is full of hyperbole and bluster.
Him saying this is no surprise at all, nor does his miscategorization of the nature of the surrender change the fact that Iran has been systematically dismantled, it’s leadership ravaged, and it’s ability to project power and influence in the region grievously disrupted.
Labels ultimately mean little when stood next to the facts… This little gaffe and the fight with Iran not going the way the neocons hoped it would, or the way Democrats criticized it would, has not changed me to a Democrat, nor has it changed my mind that maga is the morally and pragmatically superior option than either neoconservatism and reaganism are.

How many asterisks trail that phrase?
