Open borders is the correct policy and the INA and every other restrictive immigration policy is affront to the right of freedom of movement. It is a moral necessity with the benefit of being great for the economy too.

The problem is that free immigration has to come with significant Investments in things like housing and transportation otherwise the people who the immigrants live near are going to feel like they’re being squeezed as the housing Supply dries up and lots more people are funneled through the same infrastructure.
And then those people who feel squeezed are going to vote and then free immigration will be no more.
The problem is really that the critiques are not nebulous they’re very pointed and tangible to the people who are against it. Obviously there are a lot of people who are just bigots and dislike anyone different, but there is a lot more that goes into moving a bunch of people into your country than just opening the door.
