  1. Not sure why we’ll let research on housing policy stay up but not this. Mods need to be consistent.

    Also, HAHAHAHA Germany

  2. Why didn’t Germany just score four goals during regulation like the US did? Are they bad at soccer?

  3. You can’t miss three shots in a shootout and expect to win. They were lucky to even get another chance to win after missing the first one.

  4. Is it seismic? Germany performed badly the last few times, so I don’t think expectations were very high. We didn’t even make it out of the groups last time I think?

I dislike the way soccer says team names.

I’m used to “Paraguay stun**s** Germany”

You see it in other cases like “Chelsea say new Man City….” whereas I’d say “[insert team] says”

It’s like some ever so slightly different pluralization rules across the pond

Thank you, South America, for eliminating the Axis powers from the World Cup in the span of just a few hours 🫡

As a German football nerd, this was pretty much to be expected: the Nagelsmann era is completely underwhelming.

To be fair, it’s too early for US to celebrate. First, Germany is shit. Second, Paraguay cannot play like that in the group stage. They need to get points, not drag the game towards infinity.
