I mean, it’s all about the wording. That was the whole point. It looked insanely discriminatory. If they had worded it something more like “Girls swim private event at Epic Waters. Event promoted toward Muslims but all are welcome”, then it wouldn’t have been as bad or looked as trashy and discriminatory towards people.
Also, it’s a public facility funded by tax dollars. Even if run by a private company, promoting a private event with “<religion> only” like that would be insanely wrong. Especially to “separation of church and state” folks. “Church” includes Islam. Not just Christians or Jews.
Or if a specific Mosque community had rented the place and said “private event for “<Mosque name here>” similar to “Private event for <church name here>” or “<synagogue name here>” or “<school group here>” then that wouldn’t have looked as bad either. It would’ve been clearer; “oh ok, <specificGroup> rented the place out tonight”.
So leftist people who are trying to misconstrue this as outright racism or whatever “phobia” they are interjecting this week need to take a step back and understand the poor choice of words this gal and her team chose to use in their advertising of the event, which is what led to all this in the first place. Even after changing the wording, the damage was done and the governor had to step in and push to shut it down.
