– A hypothetical forced choice head-to-head, 1 in 3 British adults (33%) would prefer Count Binface to win the Clacton by-election, giving him a 12ppt lead over Farage (21%). 32% say neither. 13% don’t know.
– Nearly 3 in 4 (74%) state that the parliamentary standards commissioner should be investigating whether the Reform UK leader broke parliamentary rules.
– 73% say investigation should continue even if Farage wins the by-election
– Disaffection with mainstream political brands correlates with high openness to alternative options and satirical platforms.

1. Summary
Count Binface polling ahead of Nigel Farage for Clacton By-election.
2. How is this related to the sub
(1) Against the rising tide of right-wing populism
So I think Binface could have claimed his helmet is a trash bin and thus not actually armor, but he has said he is an intergalactic warrior so actually by estoppel it probably is armor and thus the 1313 act of Parliament prohibits him from wearing his helmet in parliament
Context for any non-Brits – this isn’t a poll that reflects the actual election. Farage is highly likely to win that one, because Clacton specifically is much more pro-Farage/Reform than the overall country is. Still funny though.
These figures also map fairly closely onto general opinion polling, which usually has Reform between about 22-27%. What it does is expose the thing that often gets missed with the focus on them leading the polls. While they’re the single most popular party, they’re also the most disliked by some distance. That makes it very hard for them to win in a FPTP system – unless your popularity vastly outweighs the opposition (which it doesn’t), you have to be palatable enough that voters don’t really mind if you get in. Otherwise they start to vote tactically at a local level because they prioritise keeping you out over getting their preferred candidate elected.

Count Binface is going to win. Anyone who says otherwise is a doomer with terrible political instincts
