  1. A tale as old as time. Germany treats the EU less like a union of equal sovereigns and more like a giant conglomerate that Germany holds the controlling stake in.

    Nothing will ever happen with the EU if it doesn’t perfectly suit Germany’s economic interest at the time. At least this time that interest isn’t loan sharking southern Europe

  2. Would there actually be a benefit in efficiency if they are merged? I think the added stability by having more banks is not to be underestimated.
