Thousands hit with water supply issues in Kent (again…) as Thames Water lenders look to challenge Burnham | UK

Context:

This is the third time the company has had supply issues with water this year (May, January & February) that had just followed on the previous years issues in November and December

The outage had just happened following the company being scrutinised by politicians and regulators as Ofwat ordered the company to invest more into its infrastructure and to monitor the companies performances

The company has also used frequent hosepipe bans during the summer of weeks of warm weather due to the inability to meet demands in contrast to other regional water supply companies in the South East of England who have managed not to impose any or suffer supply issues

How is this Relevant?

Andy Burnham has spoken about nationalising or having greater public control over Water and Energy companies with growing public and political frustration over both performances and costs imposed on consumers with the growing perception said companies are putting a growing net profit margin, lenders & payouts first. Thames Water lenders have also planned legal action to challenge Andy Burnham if he does try to nationalise the company ( link )
