Argentina posting will continue until morale improves.
But seriously, this article explores the debate about Argentina outside of soccer, where many folks online are interrogating Argentinian history and present-day racism leading to a surging xenophobic sentiment of the country.

Yeah its one thing to hate Milei or Argentine soccer fans its clearly another thing to hate Argentina.
Like the place has problems and a history of racism, but who doesn’t? Maybe Argentina is worse than IDK Ireland but in general I don’t think getting into “who’s the worst racist” competitions is productive.
It will always be funny seeing other countries freak out when they receives 1/10th of the criticism that Americans receives on social media every day. Not to say a lot of it isn’t justified, but Americans have thicker skin than I think most people give credit.
This is the dumbest controversy ever. Team Argentina got criticized because they played like thugs and they almost got carried by the referees.
If only countries without political or racial strife deserve to win then we have to just hand over the cup to Norway.
I got flamed all over yesterday’s post on this subject for **daring** to imply that the fact that social media algorithms (+ targeted campaigns) can whip up mobs into a genuinely hateful and vitriolic frenzy against a whole nationality is bad, actually.
This opinion supposedly means I support racism in Argentina. Or at least am not anti-racist enough.
Aldous Huxley was certainly right about peoples desire to revel in righteousness anger. But then again that’s how all incitement has always worked, so.
The weird hate folks were directing at Argentinians as a whole got real gross real fast. Wild to me what ostensibly tolerant, self-styled progressive people will say whenever a group of people become the latest valid target for all their pent-up rage and violent notions because the collective has decided they’re irredeemably reprehensible.
