The video in question was a deepfake video of the then Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida. It was posted on August 11, 2023, to Niconico Douga, Japan's largest video-sharing site, among other platforms. The video was 3 minutes and 43 seconds long, and a 30-second excerpt of it was posted to X (formerly Twitter) on November 2, 2023, and had been viewed more than 2.32 million times by November 3 of that year.

The content of the video referenced one of Japan's most famous internet memes, depicting three people drinking alcohol while engaging in gay sex and smearing feces.
