Two Russian men jailed in Angola for terrorism and spying

A judge in Angola has found two Russian men guilty of terrorism and spying following deadly protests in the country.

Russian operatives have been influencing and destabilising politics in multiple countries across Africa for years now. Their allies have taken over three countries in the Sahel in West Africa. They have recruited men from Kenya, Botswana and South Africa to go and fight in their war against Ukraine, allegedly under false pretenses. And now they have been found to have attempted to overthrow the government of Angola.

All throughout the 2010s I was told China was going to take over Africa. That never happened. But now it seems Russia is trying to do exactly this. This should be a major story. It would be if it were China or the United States doing this. But Russia has somehow managed to escape the scrutiny that the two superpowers get (from opposite sides of the political spectrum).
