Russia charges Telegram founder Pavel Durov with ‘aiding terrorism’. This may be related to the fact that Durov was arrested in France last year, but eventually released. Perhaps he cut a deal with French intelligence to allow them access to Telegram?

Submission statement:
Pavel Durov is the Russian-born founder of Telegram, the chat/messenger service with over [1 billion active users.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telegram_(software) Many users feel this platform is “safer” than rivals like WhatsApp from the US, which are suspected of being compromised and monitored by US intelligence services. Telegram is widely used in Russia for this reason, although recently the Russian government has been trying to restrict its use.
Durov (now a French citizen) was arrested in France last year, and released after posting bail. Pure speculation, but did he have to come to an arrangement with the French government to allow them to monitor users? Is this why the Russians now want to arrest him?
That’s what happens when the information isn’t censored. So everyone blames telegram for allowing information from all sides, exposed. Really sad.
backdoored for sure
