Climate change becomes real. It comes all true as they said and it is costing lives. Those 10000 deaths are mainly from the June heat wave and summer is not over yet. Wide part of Europe suffer from a comparable heat wave right now, although large parts of Germany are not affected that much.
Politics even with the efforts they are taking is still not taking this seriously. What kind of mass casualty event is handled like minor inconvenience?

That’s the same as a quarter of all U.S. gun deaths with a quarter of the population.

Germany not even having ceiling fans or awnings as standard issue is truly insane. The entire country has had over 20 years to prepare for a massive climate change heatwave, and they didn’t even bother to install the first aid kit of heat management.
Germany and France need to change or heat related deaths will be their leading cause of death when things really start heating up in the next 10 years.

Air conditioning inside private homes will become a standard after this shocking Summer (at least for those who can afford to buy one), but adapting public infrastructure will take a longer time.
Not too dissimilar to the cold wave in Texas a couple of years ago.

Europe is the continent the most badly affected by climate change/global warming (already ~2.3°) and the lead is only expected to grow. But we are rich and can respond to it… At least if we choose to
