  1. The Hulk has a difficult time maintaining popularity. Most people like Spider-man, but forget about Hulk. Maybe they’re trying to solid fanbase for him.

SS: Theory as I was watching the Avengers Infinity War today I watched as the Hulk talked to himself to transform during key moments of battle but he wouldn’t do it. I know the writers said it was because the Hulk got scared after fighting Thanos and didnt feel confident to transform again for a while. An I did believe that for a while until I thought wait a minute who owns the Hulk again??? Universal Studios owns the rights for Hulk and most likely leased the character to Disney to use them for their movies , shows , toys , games etc. Disney agreed and then used the Hulk well at first but slowly over time started weakening the character why? Most likely to lower the perceived value of the Hulk character. Even random average Joe’s are saying ” what’s wrong with the Hulk character why’s he so weak” or ” Whats Disney doing with Hulk man” So people are literally noticing its obvious the Hulk character is being wasted. Also consider Universal Studios is technically competition for Disney since both own theme parks. Basically I dont know when but once the Hulk has been weakened beyond compare Disney execs will come to Universal and say ” We want to buy your character including all the rights and film rights etc , anyways the character isnt liked anymore by the public. At that point Universal Studios MIGHT give in after seeing the feedback from the public on how they dont view the hulk character as popular anymore. Sorry for this being so long but yeah thats the theory. I also thought wait Sony owns Spiderman rights and also leased them to Disney to make movies etc and Disney is doing awesome with it but Sony doesnt own any theme parks so technically they are not that much of a threat compared to Universal Studios.

I don’t know if it’s on purpose, because there is a lot of bad writing out there, but I definitely agree he’s been ruined, at least in the MCU.

He used to be a character that people with anger issues could relate to, especially young boys. Bad tempers run in my family and Hulk was a character my brother and I could identify with growing up, and my nephew also became a big fan of him when he was really little. But after Hulk became this sensitive guy who no longer seemed like the strongest there is, my nephew completely lost interest.

I haven’t seen the new Spiderman movie so maybe he’s been redeemed, but giving him grey hair and a receding hair line is not something kids want to see in their power fantasy. Makes me almost long for the cartoony Hulk from the 2003 movie.

Comic fans know he was basically a part of Marvel’s big 3, along with Spiderman and Wolverine, but his profile has dropped dramatically, perhaps for the reason OP mentioned, or perhaps because if a shift in culture.

  4. You’re overthinking it. HULK smash when confused, HULK smash when mad. HULK Hulks when appropriate. Which is any given moment. HULK subsidies sometimes…but not usually. HULK is the MIC, and Dr. Banner has been disrespected.
