I'm currently watching out for that symbolism and this scene caught my attention in Groundhog Day clock displaying 4h04.
And the best in this ? The scene is exactly 44 sec long I just checked it because I wanted to see if they cheated and took more than a minute for the scene while 4h04 holds. But no and they did better they engraved the number in the length of the scene.
4 is associated with stagnation, materialism, hedonism and oppose to spirituality.
And that's what we see because the next day he looses it and is chased by cops on the railway and the train displays 44 again, it even doubles it.

This made me sit up straight in my chair.
The number 44 has been following my Wife and I *everywhere* for over a year… spooky.
Wow. My wife’s favorite number is 44. And everything with her is 44. Signs?
