Palantir Technologies will become Roko’s Basilisk

1. Palantir Technologies is a software company founded in 2003 that develops platforms for analyzing large volumes of information. Palantir Technologies can use AI to analyze information from social networks and can integrate that data with other sources to find patterns, relationships between people, locations, events, or trends. Today there is some controversy because many have discovered that one of Palantir's future goals is to eliminate or censor criticism of the Israeli government or any other associated government through social media or any other similar type of media.

2. Roko's Basilisk is a thought experiment proposed on a LessWrong forum in 2010. The idea poses a hypothetical scenario in which a future artificial superintelligence could punish those who knew of its possible existence but had not contributed to its creation, in order to incentivize its own creation.

Now you might be wondering, what could possibly be the connection between Palantir Technologies and Roko's Basilisk? Well, imagine this: So many years go by, and you're working peacefully, just a few years away from retirement and finally collecting your pension. But then, to your surprise, you receive a notification that 30 years ago you posted a comment saying "d34th to the Isr43li government" with the username "Isr43lHater123." As a result, you're fired, you lose your job, you lose your pension, and all your financial rights derived from public employment, including any benefits associated with your position.

You might be wondering, "How did they discover that comment from decades ago, and how did they know that the fake profile was you?" Because Palantir, using futuristic AI, managed to piece together the necessary data to uncover it.

My point is that it's possible that AI will reach a point where it's so advanced that, with government permission, it could access the private information of social media users and hunt down anyone who has ever commented against the government, Israel, or promoted any ideology the government opposes—all to compensate for all those years they couldn't do it. So, it's not that "freedom of expression on social media without real-life consequences" will end at some point; rather, that "freedom of expression" ended the moment a human being wrote the first comment against the government online. Now, the government just needs to wait for AI to become sophisticated enough to hunt down all those people who have made controversial political comments online over the years. And what does it need to achieve this? To train AI more and more. And how do you train AI? By promoting its use among the population, normalizing the use of AI for everything through propaganda.

In short, EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING you have ever written in a social media comment box over the years will be tracked by a super-advanced government AI and you will be punished accordingly when the time comes. So not only will you be prosecuted in the future just for criticizing the government through social media, but you will also be prosecuted because you did so at some point in the past before there was an AI to track you down.
