Zombie deer are caused by misfolded prions, as I explained in a previous tweet. Are they dangerous? Dangerous for other animals, What about humans? Currently, it is still under strict monitoring, because this prion is not a virus but a protein. If "zombie deer" prions continue to replicate and inadvertently form a new folding variant that matches the structure of human brain proteins, the disease could potentially become transmissible and infect humans.

Prions are terrifying and this makes me think of last of us.
theoretically it could affect humans but probably only if you were to eat a zombie deer. kinda like the prion diesease Kuru if you eat a brain

And hunters still don’t understand why a deer carcass from a CWD positive area shouldn’t be processed at a facility in a CWD free zone. Hunters in TN are directly responsible for lying about where they shot their deer and carrying CWD carcasses over state lines to process in cleared harvesting areas in AL.
If these prions mutate, then they could directly spread deadly diseases to humans through wild game processing centers, which generally have far lower levels and frequency of inspection. Especially the “off the books” processors. It’s wild how people tend to have far lower awareness or fear of zoonotic diseases, even after our understanding of the likely source of COVID and other deadly viral infection origins at wet markets.
The continued spread of this disease is a great case of not blaming malice for what can be explained by carelessness, lack of trust in expert guidance, and incompetence.
I’m still trying to figure out what they were telling us about the deer in the movie leave the world behind. The zombie deer thing has been the closest resemblance.

There was that hunting lodge a few years ago where 2 unrelated members developed CJD (human prion disease) at the same time
Also a friend’s family member was an off-grid guy in Nebraska living on hunted deer (and there’s a lot of CWD deer in Nebraska) and he died of CJD. It just seems like a lot of overlap between an uncommon activity and an uncommon disease..
This is not the picture of a deer with CWD (necessarily), looks like a bunch of tumors. It doesn’t cause any wild physical abnormalities like this.
pump more chemicals into environment,but focus on carbon footprint and nonsense like that.
