fda knew which company grew the lettuce that killed someone in 2024 and closed the case without ever saying the name

nov 2024 there was a romaine e coli outbreak, 89 sick across 15 states, 36 hospitalized, 1 dead. fda and cdc closed that investigation in january 2025 and never told the public which company grew it. the name only came out in april 2025 in federal court filings after a victim sued, it was taylor farms, and they deny it was thier product.

now that same company, 7 billion dollars and the biggest fresh cut produce processor in north america, is in the middle of the biggest Cyclospora outbreak this country has ever recorded. 6358 cases, 278 hospitalizations, 2 deaths in michigan as of the cdc aug 5 update, from iceberg lettuce out of thier central mexico plant that got recalled july 17 after already going out to at least 27 states. taco bell, jack in the box, sysco, marketside bags at walmart, and 5 more customers listed in the recall notice as abbreviations that reporters could not even identify.

and they pack bagged salad thats sold under other companys store brands, marketside, good & gather, simple truth, kirkland, some trader joes, not every bag but enough that half the aisle is one processor and u cant see it from the front of the package. 4 companies control 54 percent of the fresh cut salad supply in this country. Crazy the government can foodmonger like this. why is the growers name treated like a trade secret when people are actually dying from it??
