Instead, she argues that the trans rights movement should focus on broader civil liberties protections (no one wants to be humiliated by being subjected to a bathroom inquisition) and appeals to pluralism (arguing that trans peoples’ view of gender can be accepted, even if not agreed with, the way the public accepts Muslim and Mormons’ religious views and practices) to rebuild a coalition in support of trans rights.

That’s why I like the “I don’t really get it, but we should be nice to em” argument.
I live in Texas and whenever I hear someone with at least 5 brain cells say something alluding to trans people I say something to the effect of that and it usually gets them to think about how stupid they’re being. (Fewer than 5 brain cells and it’s not worth it)
No one is asking you to transition.
No one is asking you to live with these people.
So why the fuck does it bother you even if it is “weird”?
