Losing USAID genuinely hurts my heart because I know how many tens of thousands will die for no reason.
Even if you take all the humanity out of it, isn’t it better for US hegemony to have a bunch of people feel indebted to you? Just from a purely transactional perspective I’m happy to spend $5 if it means we’ll get $10 from them later. A dead person can’t work a mine or a factory
