US taxpayers pay millions a year to fund wired internet access, on investigation ProPublica and the Anchorage Daily News found that the money was going to fund connections to mostly abandoned buildings and the non-abandoned buildings preferring alternatives. It raises the question of how many of the similar programs are similarly useless.
It pertains to neoliberalism as it shows the failure of government intervention and the success of the free market despite that. People should discuss if these type of programs should have a future and why the Trump admin decided to maintain this while cutting useful programs like USAID.
