Tesla didn’t choose the Pine Barrens geology by accident.
He needed a place where the Earth itself could become part of the circuit. Deep, sandy, permeable ground that would let him reach the groundwater and drive long iron pipes far into the soil. That connection gave him what he called a “grip” on the planet, a way to send electrical current through the Earth as standing waves.
The geology made it possible. Loose, iron-bearing sands sitting above a vast aquifer. Low resistance and natural pathways (dissolved iron ions) for current to move. He sank a shaft over a hundred feet down, then pushed iron pipes outward through the moist earth so the ground itself became a conductor.
The same conditions exist beneath the New Jersey Pine Barrens.
Sandy and Iron-rich. Resting on deep water. A landscape that already carries the electrical advantages Tesla spent a fortune trying to create.
What he built with iron and engineering, the Pinelands hold in their soil, their water, and their living systems… I don’t think anyone’s thought of that yet haha
