Interesting essay linking the rise in interest in de Gaulle in Europe to changes in the transatlantic relationship. De Gaulle certainly was not a neoliberal however, and it's interesting to see how his economic approach differed. He had a much more statist approach.

De Gaulle clearly was not a neoliberal. He had a different vision for Europe between the Communism of the Soviet Union and the capitalism of the US. Interesting to see how his legacy is helping to guide Europe today.
