  1. Alright, gonna give you the short dirty version.

Anonymous was more a collective then a group back in the day. You could show up in IRC and try and persuade the people in the chat to pursue whatever project you wanted. This included artist and people in non-technical capacity as well. Sometimes, different people in the group would end up on opposite sides of an issue. It was more a collective, no real members. Only thing required to join, was to get busy on a project.

They had some quality hackers and a few tech heavies back in the day who did pull off some major projects. Eventually the government infiltrated and targeted/arrested/charged the members who were doing the real hacking. This also created various smaller splinter groups as people left.

Anonymous was more collective then organization and eventually, the technical members were targeted and caught. They were a fascinating part of history that did some serious good. Every once in awhile someone takes the name, no one has managed to pull together a real collective again.

Anyone can use the name Anonymous. It was always kinda like that. That is why they survived as long as they did and pulled off so many incredible projects.

That’s the best I remember it. It was biggers/more complex than this, though this is the best I can explain it.

  2. The-Dinkus-Aminkus on

Legislation regarding online Anonymity changed and basically deleted the groups capabilities instantly. In like 2010 they were a real thing, yes. Now? IDK people could do it, but the pool would be so limited to like 5 hyper autistic savants and wont happen.

  3. I always thought they fell on their own sword after how much hate they got for taking the playstation network down.

  4. **Back in 2011**, journalists and other interested people were closely following what was happening, including the discussions taking place in various chat rooms. At the time, there was also a group, or rather a fairly loose network of people, using that name. There were other groups active at the same time, such as LulzSec, whose existence effectively came to an end with the identification of Sabu. I believe that **everything that happened after that period came from the FBI and people jumping on the bandwagon.**

It would have been strategically foolish for people who were part of that OG circle and had not been identified to resurface under the same name and on the same networks. The whole point was that it was an open group, so anyone could claim to be acting in its name.

It probably goes against a lot of what you normally hear about it. I’m convinced there are still aspects of this that have never been fully clarified.

Every single one, Weather Underground, Q, Annonymous, those two guys who pretend governments are after them, etc.

Every one of em, are all for your entertainment!!  They provide a balance to make some people think there are people fighting, trying to bring down corruption and the elites.

It is all BS, and they love ya’ll thinkin you gots peeps on yer side.

Just an FYI, it is spiritual and they got 99.99999% of the population.   As in the times of Noah, so shall it be when the son of man returns.   Just remember there were only Noah and his 3 sons and thier wives who survived the last time.   None of us are innocent.
