Are we transitioning from Resistance 1.0 to 2.0? Because it seems like the Democrats who built their personality around opposing Trump, are moving on, or at least moving forwards. Alex Vindman’s loss to Angie Nixon is a good example: Vindman had far more money and national recognition, but Nixon had a stronger grassroots operation and a message centered on progressive policies and direct confrontation with the current political fights. The other point that stood out to me is the parallel on the Republican side: Trump’s endorsements are starting to lose some of their influence, potentially for completely different reasons, as voters become frustrated with his handling of the Iran war and others on the right think he hasn’t gone far enough. It’s striking that both parties seem to be moving away from the figures and political strategies that defined the last Trump era—but is this actually a sign that voters want something new, or are we just watching both sides become more radical in different directions?
