SS: This is a book review of a book which came out this summer which I just finished reading. The book follows the planning and execution of, and the subsequent German investigation into the bombing of the Nord Stream pipeline, which has led to the arrest of two accused saboteurs. The book also covers the web of tangled energy and diplomatic relations between the US, Germany, Poland, Ukraine and Russia from prior to the construction of Nord Stream to the operations to arrest the suspects.

Overall, while I found the narrative challenging to parse in places due to the pseudonyms employed for participants in both stories, I really enjoyed the read, and would encourage interested users to find a copy.

My feeling for this entire episode is that if Germany had any real sense it would have pretended to investigate and not really do anything and just let this go away.

I can’t believe they are actually prosecuting this person

To me it’s like a stranger punched a zombie that was sucking your brains out of your head but in the process pushed you over. Now you are going to prosecute this person who saved you. For what.
