
In this post, I summarize the 2025 academic article "The Folk Economics of Housing," which offers evidence against the view that homeowners oppose development out of financial motivation and instead offers evidence to suggest that housing is expensive because people don't understand how housing market work.

Why are we assuming it’s residential homeowners who are driving opposition? I would assume investors/business owners who already have a stake in the area.
