One of my favorite coffee roasters in Munich has now stopped shipping to other EU countries because of it – absolutely decimating their online business.

A lot of lefties in Europe often credit this to “Neoliberalism”, because the strongest party in Europe has been the European people’s party – however I argue that, even though they sometimes represent neoliberal policies, they often represent a conservative economic platform which is very bad for small businesses and startups. They are usually only in favor of reforms which benefit the bigger companies, who are often their donors, but not smaller ones. They are often not against regulations, because regulations actually help big businesses, since they can afford people to handle those regulations, but they are deadly for smaller companies and start ups.
