Been reading about this DDR4/DDR5 shortage for months now and something's bugging me. Official story is simple: tons of datacenters, all building AI models, that's why memory demand exploded. Fine, that's the narrative everyone accepts. Prices tripled, factories can't keep up, and analysts say this doesn't ease until 2027+, framed as a "structural realignment," not a temporary blip.
But here's the thing that gets me. What if it's not thousands of datacenters each doing their own thing. What if somewhere in that spending, BigAI (whoever's actually behind the biggest of these builds) isn't training "a bunch of useful models" at all, but going a totally different direction: brute force. Throw every chip and every byte of memory you can physically acquire into one single system and see what happens. No product roadmap. No quarterly release. Just scale for the sake of scale, because BigAI believes if you stack enough hardware together you cross some threshold and get something that isn't just a better chatbot anymore. Something that can actually out-think a person.
That's the Contact scenario. Not evil AI takeover, not sci-fi robots. Just BigAI building the biggest machine anyone's ever built, purely on the hope that scale alone gets them there, and the "datacenter AI boom" story is the perfect cover for it because nobody questions memory going into datacenters right now, that's just accepted as normal.
Not saying I know it's true. Just saying "everyone's building datacenters" accounts for a lot of demand, but it doesn't fully explain a shortage this severe, this synchronized, with an official recovery date that keeps getting pushed back. Anyone else think there's a real chance one of BigAI's builds isn't like the others?

ie. They hope to start using ‘pictures’ in the documents of law, because ‘words’ are too much for people these days.
A ‘Post-Literate Future’ is a future when the masses can no longer read (which is probably the plan, because reading gains one access to knowledge and history).
So it’s back to children’s ‘picture books’, because ‘literature’ goes over everyone’s heads.

No filme Contact tem uma cena que a Dr. Eleanor conversa com “outro ser” na figura do pai dela, nesse momento podemos pensar que a figura paterna simboliza um rito de passagem para nós humanos em direção ao conhecimento real do universo, algo que só poderia ser feito por um “pai”. Poderiamos falar muito sobre isso mas o meu ponto é que não sabemos se estamos sendo conduzidos ou conduzindo a coisa toda. E esse é o real problema.
As aspirações humanas são claras, jogamos uma meta para o futuro e perseguimos ela, ponto. Fazemos isso a séculos e uma BigAi conseguiria perceber esse padrão comportamental, então logo moldar os mercados, paises, governos e as massas seria algo prático de ser feito. A questão que fica é como nós seres humanos vamos nos relacionar com essa condução ao desconhecido, como saber a verdade, talvez não tenhamos uma forma de fazer isso.
