Society Post-Covid is DIFFERENT.

Is this just an “America” problem ?

We live in a “City” that used to have 30,000 residents. Half of those numbers were snow birds who only stayed half the year so realistically the town population was around 20,000-40,000 give or take few thousand seasonal visitors for about 15 years.

Then out of no where in 2021 after covid slowed down, people thought moving down south was safer than living up north. My town’s population went from 20-40k to about 100k in 3 short years.

The value of our property is super inflated. A starter home which was only $130k pre covid, has shot up to around 330k.

Roads are packed from 5 am until 9 pm daily, there is no sense of community in my neighborhood and someone gets shot weekly if not monthly.

What was once protected land has been rezoned to fit the investor’s needs. Commissioner/ City manager & Magistrate have sold out to the developers/ highest bidder.

Literally nothing but tearing down trees to build parking lots and shopping plazas. Everyone is mean, most locals can’t afford to live here and have had to move out of state.

A daily driving commute entails being ran off the road or being driven around illegally, if you aren’t doing 15-50mph over the speed limit, you’re wrong.

Trying to navigate through the supermarkets since the growth in population is almost impossible. I do all my shopping exclusively on grocery delivery platforms because the amount of stupid brainless people I have to encounter just drains my energy. So many people, yet they all lack common sense, awareness and empathy.

I can understand NY or California’s environment but out here down south it WAS so peaceful and now I feel as if I’m in a 24/7 rat race.

People are starting to feel there’s no real point in this life, besides being a hamster on a wheel. Collectively, as a society, it’s only going to get worse.

People who knew how simple and slow the south used to be will understand my sentiment.

Did I forget to mention Flock cameras have been installed on every major road in the “City”. Residents are now being unconstitutionally tracked and monitored 24/7-365.

In summary, our population where I live has grown immensely, which has caused more growth and development than this area needs or can handle. Quality of life for middle class workers has deteriorated so drastically that middle class is the new lower middle class and dropping fast. Which all seems to be by design.
