This is coming after Bibi urged Smotrich to unite with Ben-Gvir’s Jewish Power, but Ben-Gvir doesn’t want it because internal polls show that Smotrich turns away some voters. Smotrich’s party is seen as a sectoral party of the religious Zionist settlers but they’ve mostly lost their base to Bibi and Ben-Gvir so they’re getting desparate.
I don’t think this move makes a large difference, Feiglin does not command a lot of votes and the far right remains fragmented. It’s also quite awkward because Feiglin is significantly less socially conservative than Smotrich. One recent poll showed that if Smotrich and Feiglin unite then another small far right party, led by Ofer Winter, is going to not pass the minimum threshold. I wouldn’t be surprised if either of these don’t pass.
