Submission Statement: EU trade officials are drafting new rules to require companies in critical sectors to increase their number of suppliers in order to reduce reliance on China, the EU Commission’s top trade official told MEPs on September 2nd.
The commission has also drawn up plans to curb the oversupply of Chinese industrial goods, as well as a proposed Industrial Accelerator Act, which would bar some Chinese products from public procurement contracts and limit takeovers of European companies.

Hopefully we do this with america too soon.
If the EU was serious, they would’ve done this *before* they started negotiating instead of belatedly realizing that they need more leverage. As in, get all their ducks in a row with the member states lined up behind a unanimous consensus and then go to Beijing as a group, instead of this half-EU half-bilaterial thing they have going.
Then again, if the EU was serious, they wouldn’t be in this mess in the first place.
