Compared to Trump 1, far fewer people across many US allied countries like Sweden, Poland, and South Korea are willing to give the US the benefit of the doubt despite disliking its leader.

One of these is not like the others
Because he was re-elected by winning the popular vote.
In the first term it was easy to insulate Trump over the population because he: A. Won with less million votes and B. Was treated as an anomaly who somehow stole the GOP under their noses. C. could be rationalized (Even if it was not completely true) as being planted by Russia against the Americans’ will.
Then Biden was elected and Trump tried to coup the government, and people not only saw the system failing at put him in jail but him breezing past the nomination and getting elected with even more votes. So it became impossible to deny at that point that a big percentage of the population WANTS Trump. Then he started acting even worse than the first term so people observed the voting populace choosing a madman after 4 years of relatively normal governance and got disillusioned on America.
You could argue people didn’t know what they were signing up for in 2016 and he only won because of quirks in our electoral system. Trump not only getting reelected but winning the popular vote too was a damning an indictment of the American public. We saw the train wreck that was his first term and asked for more, no surprise to see our international reputation tank as a result.
The gap hasn’t just widened because the US is seen more negatively, but also becaue Trump personally is seen *more positively* in many of those countries (Korea, Japan, Hungary, Germany, Israel, Mexico) compared to his first term, which just shows that far-right extremism and conspiratorial thinking are on the rise globally.
