  1. At this point I am convinced that the Trump/Hegseth DOD is just a malicious foreign operation to make the US military as weak as possible. So this guy having a bunch of defenders testifying to his competence will obviously make Hegseth want to fire him even more.

    >In Washington, Mr. Hegseth received a binder with candidates’ photos and bios. General **Dan Caine, the incoming chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, had scribbled an effusive endorsement with a black Sharpie next to General Donahue’s picture**, the officials said. The two officers had worked together earlier in their careers.

    >But his efforts to save General Donahue were going nowhere.

    >In a meeting with Mr. Sheehy, **General Caine explained why: The senators’ campaign was only causing Mr. Hegseth’s opposition to grow,** reinforcing his perception that General Donahue was too powerful, independent and connected.

    >Mr. Sheehy stopped pushing.

I’m surprised Caine would openly comment; I assumed he was a yes man. I wonder if he’ll last much longer.

  3. It’s nice to see that good leadership is not only being gutted based on culture war obsessions of Trump/Hegseth, but also random ass capricious scapegoating too
