Rapper [Boosie Badazz](https://people.com/boosie-badazz-concert-shooting-leaves-2-critically-injured-after-shots-fired-while-rapper-on-stage-11695197) has launched a legal action against two lobbyists he had hired in an unsuccessful bid to obtain clemency from the president for a gun charge.

“This is what I was led to believe: If you come with this money, you will get a pardon,” Boosie, born Torence Ivy Hatch Jr. and [formerly known as Lil’ Boosie](https://people.com/all-about-boosie-badazz-children-11768592), told *60 Minutes*’ [Lesley Stahl](https://people.com/lesley-stahl-60-minutes-firings-worst-experience-career-11993103).

The rapper said he paid $600,000 to D.C. lobbyists Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl, conservative conspiracists who in 2023 were assessed [the largest-ever fine](https://www.politico.com/news/2021/08/24/fcc-jacob-wohl-voter-robocalls-506813) by the [Federal Communications Commission](https://www.fcc.gov/document/fcc-assesses-over-5m-forfeiture-unlawful-robocalls) in connection with a robocall scheme intended to discourage Black voters during the 2020 election.
