Why Does Botswana’s Democracy Work So Well?

This article describes the author's experience attending a kgotla, Botswana's indigenous system of local assemblies.

It also features an update on former President Masisi (friend of the sub) who became the first President of the Botswana Democratic Party to lose an election since independence and then peacefully handed over power to the opposition.
