Relevance: long strained conflict between Eritrea and Ethiopia is erupting again. This may turn into a regional war. Conflicts are popping up globally and the new use of drones appears to have rewritten war tactics. What started as infighting between the TPFL and Ethiopian governments is turning into a land grab. Ethiopia has its eyes set on capturing Assab and its port as it’s currently dependent on its neighbors for trade. The TPFL launched a defensive war after internal power struggles in Tigray and has appeared to have miscalculated. Eritrea was accused of backing the TPFL and has moved troops into Tigray. Ethiopia may use the momentum and march into Eritrea.
