I've been wondering whether everyone is looking at China's gold strategy the wrong way.
There's endless discussion about how much gold China owns, whether they're hiding their real reserves, and whether they're eventually going to challenge the dollar.
But what if we're all looking for some big announcement that never actually comes?
This video raises some interesting questions about that:

One thing that stands out is how little attention the financial media seems to give to the longer-term implications of what China is doing.
I don't buy the idea that the dollar is suddenly going to collapse or that China has everything figured out.
But I also find it hard to believe that all of these developments are happening without some broader strategic thinking behind them.
Maybe this is being overblown. Maybe it isn't.
I'm curious what people here think, especially those who have followed the gold market for a long time.
Are we giving China too much credit, or are we seriously underestimating what they're trying to accomplish?
