    The answer seems to be

    1) Their military is intentionally nerfed to prevent coups

    2) They have high tech expensive solutions and are struggling against low cost munitions (something that the US also has a problem with)

    3) They primarily prepared for Iran or Iraq to be a direct military threat and built up advanced radar and air interception systems there

  2. It really comes down to who is willing to die for you? You can pay them and give them fancy equipment but are they really motivated to defend their homeland?

  3. I think about the excellent anime LoGH and I always thought its writer Tanaka portrayed the late Goldenbaum as too incompetent, sure the nobles had nepotism and whatnot but surely it should still be enough to destroy the FPA which they vastly outnumbered but alas lol
