  1. Submission statement: An article by Norwegian NRK about how the Barents Observer is being sued by a Russian oligarch. The articles that Vitaly Orlov is suing the Barents Observer over are about sanctions on him from the EU. The legal costs could very well mean that the Barents Observer, a highly regarded and very small non-profit Norwegian newspaper, could go bankrupt. The lawsuit also seems to be particularly designed to incur high costs. The NRK article also discusses the increase in the use of SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) in Europe. These are lawsuits designed to incur costs or make threats with the goal to stifle public debate.

On a personal note, I really cant stress enough that the Barents Observer is a quality newspaper. Its small, but it really does good work.
