If we take Bibi’s word that 7 Oct was like sixteen 9/11s, then by the same logic the Gaza genocide is more than three thousand 9/11s

SS: Last month, at the United Nations, Netanyahu explained to the hall what the 1,200 dead of 7 October meant for a country of ten million people. “Proportionately, this is equal to 40,000 innocent Americans slaughtered in less than 24 hours. That’s sixteen times 9/11. Sixteen 9/11s.”192 It’s undoubtedly true, in a broad sense, that a massacre is going to be felt more comprehensively by a small country than a large one, and a charitable interpretation of his argument will accept it as an attempt to illustrate this reality. But there is also something unsettling about turning an atrocity into a cold, fairly abstract multiplication like this. If one were to consistently pursue this evaluation of human existence, then one would arrive at some odd conclusions. The attacks of 9/11 killed around one American in every hundred thousand, which in Iceland would come to just four people, such that a small bomb exploding outside the Alþingi claiming four lives would count as Iceland’s 9/11. Apply it to Gaza, however, and we find Netanyahu being hoist with his own petard. Nearly seventy-four thousand dead, out of around 2.2 million people, is roughly 3.3% of Gaza’s pre-war population.193 Scaled to the United States, that would be more than eleven million Americans. Scaled to Israel it would be some 335,000 Israelis. According to the criterion that Netanyahu chose, Gaza’s death toll is more than three thousand 9/11s.
